Case 1

M.V. presented to our office with complaints of an unusually severe migraine headache syndrome. She had been on medical year leave as she was unable to continue working because of her head pain. She stated that she was in bed in a dark room almost three days out of every week and was understandably quite frustrated and distraught that she was in so much pain and was in essence losing out on almost half of her life. She had tried a variety of conventional medical approaches including numerous drugs. She had had brain MRI and sinus MRI which were all negative. Using the NAET testing protocol she was found to be multi‑allergic to foods and many chemicals. She was seen three times weekly and cleared for many of her food and chemical allergies. She gained only moderate relief until we treated her for fabric materials including nylon, rayon, and cotton. She quite abruptly stopped experiencing migraines and on follow up evaluation one year later she had had virtually no headaches for the entire year and was able to resume her previous active life. Her case is a good example of the devastation that allergies can cause to one's health and we were fortunate in that we were able to identify the most important triggers for her migraines and then eliminate them with NAET treatments. C.S. presented to our office with complaints of neck pain, daily headache pain, which was bilateral and did not seem migraine to her. She had a chronic sinusitis which she experienced year round but which was worse in the spring and the fall and she had that for many years. She experienced intestinal bloating and cramping. She had been somewhat depressed for several years and was on anti‑depressant medication. on examination she was found to be allergic to many foods as well as the typical hay fever antigens, i.e., pollens, grass, trees, molds, dust, flowers, and dust mites. She had a beautiful response to the NAET treatments in that she started feeling better quite quickly as we moved through first her food allergies. When we successfully cleared her hay fever allergies she felt almost complete relief of her sinus congestion and pressure and her daily headache pain completely resolved. She no longer had stomach cramps. What was particularly gratifying is that she felt good energy and was able to eliminate her anti‑depressant medication and continue to feel quite strong. She has come in for re‑evaluation some ten months after her discharge and was found to be holding on all of her treatments and reported that she was continuing to feel quite good.

EXPLANATION:  Her case is representative of many chronic sinusitis cases in that allergens will typically cause a mucus reaction and as the mucus settles into the sinuses becomes a bed for chronic infection. Once this sets in it is quite resistant to treatment. NAET is often useful for chronic sinusitis because it eliminates the mucus producing allergens and gives the sinuses a chance to heal. Her case was also gratifying in that she was regaining an overall level of health besides clearing up her symptomatic complaints so that she felt a sense of well being and was able to get off all medications.

Case 2

L.D. came into the office complaining of fatigue, brain fog, and quite severe PMS symptoms including bloating, cramping, and excessive menstrual flow. NAET testing showed the need for treatment for the basic food items as well as to fabric and finally treating her hormones. She was treated for both estrogens and progesterone and several combinations with both of the hormones. Her comment after approximately six weeks of treatment was that "I had my period and didn't even feel it coming."

EXPLANATION: It is quite common for women who have PMS symptoms to be "allergic" to their own hormones according to Dr. Devi. My experience in the office is that virtually all cases of PMS will improve and usually resolve if the basic items and hormones are treated.

Case 3

B.D. presented with complaints of fighting mononucleosis for the past eight months. He is a successful lawyer in his fifties and had been able to return to work because of acupuncture and some  other alternative treatments but felt that he was still functioning perhaps seventy percent of normal even after all the months of treatment and had "hit a wall." He was treated with a variety of virus vials we have in the office and in approximately three weeks felt that he was functioning close to one hundred percent of what he used to feel like.

EXPLANATION: The NAET protocol is also useful for treating acute and chronic viral infections. Dr. Devi has taught that it is useful to collect samples of a patient's own saliva or sinus discharge and to treat the person's own infection. In the office we have a variety of viral and bacterial vials that we can treat. As one becomes energetically compatible with the infectious agent it becomes much easier for the body to throw off the infection. There is an expression "what you resist, persists" and as we get the body to accept the infection with meridians wide open it becomes a fairly easy matter for the body to throw off the infection.

Case 4

S.L. is a twenty‑one year old female who presented with complaints of brain fog, irritability, fatigue, weakness, and joint pain. She was treated for the basic items as well as heavy metals, artificial sweeteners, hormones, and individual treatments for minerals. She was also treated for the individual sugars including glucose, lactose, and maltose. After several months of treatment she presented to the office with the expression, "you have given me my brain back. Thank you." She was discharged and continued to do quite well and then called the office some six months later saying that "I'm sick and all my allergies are back." Upon re‑examination she related that she had had a surgery. She was treated for anesthesia and immediately her symptoms lifted and she was once again clear for all the allergens that she had been treated for.

EXPLANATION: Her case was interesting to show that a very strong trauma, whether it be a physical poison like anesthesia or even emotional trauma can turn a sensitive person multi‑allergic. Because of that insults to the system like vaccinations are investigated as one cause for illness and multi‑allergic responses. Exposure to pesticides, fungicides, and parasites also fall into this grouping.

Case 5

A mother brought her son, T.L, into the office with complaints of skin rash, bed wetting, and inability to concentrate at school. He was a nine year old boy in seemingly otherwise good health. He was treated for the basic items with particular attention to sugar, artificial sweeteners, artificial colorings, and dairy products. The rash on the skin was the first thing to resolve after a couple of weeks of treatment. He stopped wetting the bed shortly after that which was a great relief to him and to his mother. After he was discharged his mother related several months later that he was doing better in school and seemed much more comfortable and less hyperactive than before.

EXPLANATION: His case was interesting in that children are often very quick to respond to NAET ‑ they heal quicker, and their symptoms can resolve very quickly. The NAET protocol has been very useful in treating ADD type symptoms in children. It has helped indirectly with behavioral problems.

Case 6

D.A. is a mother who brought her infant in for treatment as the infant was getting gas and crying at times in response to breast feeding. She felt it might be an allergic problem. She noted that her baby was much more agitated after the mother had drunk milk or other dairy products. Both mother and baby were found to be quite allergic to milk and other dairy products. The mother was treated for milk. The baby was treated for milk. The mother brought in some of her breast milk and the baby was treated for her breast milk. Within this quite simple treatment the baby is now comfortably breast feeding without any of the previous problems.

Case 7

S.C. brought her three year old son in because he had repeated bouts of ear infections and repeated tubes put in his ears with little or no relief. He has quite congested frequently and was mucusy and somewhat bloated after eating certain foods. He was treated for the basic protocol with attention to sugar and dairy and wheat products including gluten. He became much less congested with much less mucus noted. He stopped having ear infections and his mother was so pleased with his results that she came in for treatment for herself for complaints of fatigue.

EXPLANATION: The chronic ear infections can often be related to allergies in that, like sinusitis, allergens create mucus which can then collect in the ears and in the eustaceon tube. When mucus collects for any period of time it can become a gathering place for bacteria and then you will have repeated ear infections. The NAET protocol eliminates the allergic response and so interrupts the mucus production. The body's natural defenses can start to successfully resolve the bacterial infection and once the ear and eustaceon tube are clear generally then the ear infections do not return. The medical association was deemed that the tubes are not an effective treatment but for some reason they continue to be done. The NAET protocol is a far superior treatment for chronic ear infections in children.

Case 8

G.O. is a retired gentleman in his early sixties who had previously been treated in our office for back and leg pain. He  had been seen on a maintenance basis over several years and had complained of seasonal hay fever. He finally was persuaded to try the NAET treatments although he was quite skeptical. He was treated for pollens, grass, trees, molds, dust, and his comment was that "much to my surprise I was the only member of my family this year not to be sneezing and hacking during hayfever season." He has subsequently insisted that his also skeptical daughter come in for treatment and she is currently undergoing the same NAET protocol.

EXPLANATION: Hay fever is one of the simpler things to clear with NAET although the basic protocol is recommended to be done first to build an underlying basis of health as well as to strengthen and calm the immune system response. What is noteworthy about this case is that the NAET clearing technique is not dependent upon a patient believing in it. Babies have been successfully cleared with NAET and they obviously don't "believe" in NAET. Skeptical and disbelieving adults have undergone the NAET probably just to try to disprove it and theyhave experienced success. It is clear from this that NAET is not a placebo effect or any kind of positive thinking technique but rather a true re-education of the system to identify previous antigens as neutral or beneficial and thereby pre‑empts the allergic response.

Case 9

D.J. is a forty‑five year old professional who initially presented with neck and headache pain. His headaches were primarily bilateral and he was experiencing them three to four times weekly. He also had a chronic sinusitis and had seasonal hay fever where his headaches would be worse. He was treated with chiropractic adjustments which helped a great deal with his daily headache pain. He would then only have headaches when his sinuses were the worst. He then went through the NAET protocol and as his sinuses improved his headache syndrome virtually resolved.

EXPLANATION: Sinus congestion and infection is a very common cause for headache pain. The upper cervical spine and cervical musculature is also a very common cause for headache pain. A headache from these two causes will commonly present as a frequent headache which is often bilateral which will focus in the back of the neck and head or in the forehead area. Chiropractic adjustments as well as the NAET protocol is very effective for these types of headaches. A migraine headache syndrome is also quite treatable with NAET but differs in its presentation in that a migraine is often less frequent, usually unilateral or one sided, with sometimes auras and nausea or vomiting. With migraines the key is to finding "triggers" which is another word for allergies that cause a vascular constriction and dilation which causes migraine pain.

Case 10

B.F. is a female in her early forties who presented with headache pain and a quite tender inflamed neck. Upon treatment with traditional chiropractic techniques including trigger point therapy, and physical therapy modalities along with chiropractic adjustments, she happened to relate that she had a "math test phobia." She was extremely frustrated in that she was taking a remedial algebra course in order to finish her adult education and although she knew that she could do the work quite easily at home, she would go into a panic when she was in a testing situation and had such high anxiety that the numbers would "actually dance, the page would turn black," and she would find herself disassociating and would lose five to ten minutes of the time as she was day dreaming. We had her bring in the math test and muscle tested and her arm was extremely weak as she would hold the test and think about a testing situation. We treated the math test just like we would any other allergen with the NAET protocol and we repeated this several times with her visualizing herself taking a math test. We got a call on the answering machine with this normally quiet lady screaming excitedly that "the numbers didn't dance and the page stayed white and I got an A on my last test and I can't believe it!"

EXPLANATION: For me, the ability for NAET to treat a phobia is a further indication that this work is successful in reprocessing our perceptions. A phobia is certainly a mistaken perception where a phobic person sees something that is quite harmless as being quite threatening and has a tremendous anxiety response. The response is actually quite normal in that it is the same response as one might have if one were in any great danger, i.e., seeing a bear in the woods. It is not the response but actually the perception that is the error here whereas the phobic person is "seeing" something as a threat even though most of the conscience mind knows that it is not a threat in any way. There is usually no easy control over these phobias. With this technique we were quite easily within three treatments to retrain her nervous system to perceive a math test as innocent and so she did not have the automatic anxiety response. It is also interesting to me that this patient had very little expectation that this treatment would work but really went along with it just to humor the doctor. Once again, it was an example that this work is not about any kind of placebo effect but is indeed a re‑ordering of the nervous system and its response to what it is perceiving. It should be clear from the previous case histories that almost any health problem can be caused or worsened by allergies. NAET has been useful in treating conditions as diverse as acne, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, emphysema, fibromyalgia .... Even tremendously serious diseases including diabetes, multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other serious chronic illnesses have been helped by NAET. In some cases allergies will exacerbate symptoms. In other cases the overall level of health becomes stronger with clearing allergies and so a person has a better ability to strengthen their immune system and fight serious disease. It only makes sense that as you become more energetically compatible with your environment, particularly your interior environment in the foods that you eat that you will become healthier. For example, magnesium is necessary for over three hundred biochemical reactions that we know of to help the body detoxify. If you are allergic to magnesium the body will certainly not be efficient in detoxifying. In the same way if one is allergic to B vitamins it is difficult not to be depressed as B vitamins are co‑factors in many chemical reactions and are part of the process of manufacturing neurotransmitters. In short, it is impossible for one's biochemistry to be normal and healthy if one has allergies and conversely one's biochemistry and overall health improves as one moves through the NAET protocol.
